LAMC upgrading to cutting-edge MRI; service still available with mobile suite

Los Alamos Medical Center is very excited to announce that it is upgrading to a state-of-the-art MRI machine. The SIGNA Artist Evo MRI from GE Healthcare will offer more imaging capabilities, have a larger opening, deliver improved clinical excellence and operational efficiency, all while transforming the patient experience.

While the space is prepared and the new equipment is installed, MRI services are still available at the hospital with a mobile unit visible at the front of the hospital. The advanced technology in this mobile scanning suite delivers high-quality images. Imaging studies can be scheduled by calling 505.661.9211.

The larger opening of the new MRI machine will put patients at ease and allows for either feet-first or head-first entry. This greatly reduces claustrophobia and eliminates the need for breath holding. The machine also offers reduced noise and motion-forgiving comfort technology.

With this new model, LAMC will be able to perform studies that were not possible on the previous model, including prostate and breast exams.
