August 14, 2024
Los Alamos Medical Center is pleased to announce it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Laboratory Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
LAMC underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review from June 4-6, 2024. During the visit, a Joint Commission reviewer evaluated compliance with laboratory standards spanning several areas, including environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, performance improvement, and staff qualifications and competence.
“These inspection results represent the dedication of our lab leadership and team members. Quality lab results lead to quality patient care,” said Tracie Stratton, CEO of Los Alamos Medical Center. “I’m proud of the way this team has been able to serve our patients and meet the evolving needs for testing within the community. This accreditation from The Joint Commission reflects the continued efforts of our team to promote our mission in making communities healthier.”
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
“As a healthcare accreditor, The Joint Commission works with healthcare organizations across care settings to inspire safer and higher quality of care that is more equitable and compassionate,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer, The Joint Commission. “Through collaborating on innovative solutions and evidence-based resources and tools, The Joint Commission helps drive improvement while maintaining accountability through our leading survey methods and standards.
