April 7, 2025

LOS ALAMOS, NM (April 7, 2025) – Los Alamos Medical Center today published its community benefit report for the 2024 calendar year. This annual report outlines the various ways the hospital is working to support the health and economic vitality of Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico as part of its mission of making communities healthier®.
“As a leader in our community and region, we are committed to providing high-quality care close to home, investing in our region’s overall well-being and making a positive impact on those we serve,” said Tracie Stratton, chief executive officer (CEO) of Los Alamos Medical Center. “As the hometown hospital in Los Alamos, this year’s report underscores our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality care possible – both inside and outside our hospital walls.”
“Our hospital has proudly been providing quality and compassionate care in both inpatient and outpatient settings to the communities of Northern New Mexico for over 70 years,” Stratton continued. “We remain committed to honoring our history while further enhancing the many ways we serve our neighbors and communities.”
Los Alamos Medical Center’s 2024 community benefit report highlights its continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its community through welcoming new providers, adding and expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2024, LAMC added 34 employed and independent providers in specialties including emergency medicine, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, podiatry and telecardiology. LAMC also made nearly $1.2 million in capital improvements, including three ultrasound machines, a laparoscopic surgical tower and a new sleep lab.
Additionally, LAMC made a donation of more than $4.4 million in health services to those in need, demonstrating its continuous commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Los Alamos Medical Center is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2024, the hospital distributed more than $26.3 million in salaries, wages and benefits for its approximately 245 employees, while contributing more than $103,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so all its employees can have the opportunity to learn, grow and improve the care they provide to their patients.
Last year, the organization paid $7 million in taxes, while making contributions to a variety of local organizations, including the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico, the Family YMCA, Los Alamos Cares Food Pantry, Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce, Los Alamos MainStreet, Los Alamos Public Schools, Los Alamos Rotary Club, and Los Alamos Summer Concert Series. Additionally, the hospital played a key role in our community by hosting its annual flu shot drive, MASH Program and Teddy Bear Clinic, among other very successful events.
“We feel very fortunate to call beautiful Northern New Mexico our home, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support of all those who entrust us with their care. We are also thankful for the hard work and dedication of our providers, employees and volunteers who make it all possible,” said Stratton.
