John D. Whiteside, Chief Executive Officer

John Whiteside comes to Los Alamos Medical Center from another LifePoint Health facility, Mercy Regional Medical Center in Louisiana.

John is a native of Florida, and attended the University of Florida and the St. Leo University where he received his Master’s in Healthcare Administration and his MBA in Business Management.  He worked at Tampa General, the area’s Level 1 trauma center and was voted the Best Hospital in Florida.  In 2013 he transitioned to LifePoint Health and joined Putnam Community Medical Center, a 99 bed hospital in Palatka, FL, as the Assistant Administrator.  It was the sole acute care provider for the town and county. John was then promoted to the Chief Operating Officer for a 2 campus acute care hospital system in Eunice, Louisiana with a combined FTE of 542 employees and 109 beds. 

Some of the areas of focus that John feels are worthy of mention include:  Patient experience and HCAHPS improvement, improvement of material management for better utilization of man hours and supplies, reduction of wait times for registration, and improved physician satisfaction.

John is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), as well as being certified in Lean 6 Sigma.  He served as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1997 to 2007, and was a Commanding Officer from 2004-2007.  He had multiple overseas deployments, including several combat deployments to Iraq.  He believes his training and experience from his time of service are a great foundation for his current career.  He is and has been active in Wounded Warrior program, and a former member of the Eunice and Ville Platte Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.
