LAMC is keeping abreast of trends related to Swine Flu, more correctly called H1N1, in Los Alamos. We continue to use Universal Precautions and to stay up to date with Centers for Disease Control recommendations for surveillance. Universal Precautions are defined as techniques used by healthcare providers (e.g., use of good handwashing techniques, gloves and face masks, proper disposal of used syringes, etc.) to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Watch this space for updates as they become available. Click here for summary information on this disease.

The Little Engine that still is...
Los Alamos Medical Center is a proud member of several area Chambers of Commerce, and this week, our friends at the Chama Chamber have asked us to let our readers know that the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad continues to operate, with a bit of an altered route schedule, following the trestle fire. More information on how you can still patronize this bit of Northern New Mexico's history, click here.
Los Alamos' Relay for Life began Friday, June 25, at 6 p.m. with the Survivors Walk around Ashley Pond. LAMC was honored to serve as a Gold Sponsor for this valuable event, and our team turned out in force to walk. The rain dampened things a bit, so if you missed our booth, you can still click on these links and get information about the physicians of Northern New Mexico Cancer Care, Drs. Peter Lindberg and Jan Merin, and the hospital's Ambulatory Treatment Unit.
Give the gift of life
April is Donate Life Month, and LAMC works cooperatively with New Mexico Donor Services and the New Mexico Lions Eye Bank to support this worthy - and lifesaving - effort. However, you can make this wonderful gift a part of your life at any time. For more information click here or call 1-800-843-7672.
